Join us for an online screening of the documentary There’s Something in the Water, hosted by producer Dr. Ingrid Waldron and the David Suzuki Foundation.

Followed by a panel discussion on environmental racism moderated by Sherry Yano from the David Suzuki Foundation.

About the panelists:

Dr. Ingrid Waldron, Ph.D. is a sociologist, an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health at Dalhousie University, the Director of the Environmental Noxiousness, Racial Inequities & Community Health Project (The ENRICH Project), and the Flagship Project Co-Lead of Improving the Health of People of African Descent at Dalhousie’s Healthy Populations Institute.

Dr. David Suzuki is an award-winning geneticist and broadcaster David Suzuki co-founded the David Suzuki Foundation in 1990. In 1979, he became familiar to audiences around the world as host of CBC TV’s The Nature of Things, which is now in its 60th season. From 1969 to 2001, he was a faculty member at the University of British Columbia.

Dorene Bernard is a Mi’kmaq Grassroots Grandmother, Water Protector, Water Walker, and Survivor of the Shubenacadie Indian Residential School. Her 20+years Social Work career focused on Native Child Welfare and Community Support with survivors and families of the Shubenacadie Indian Residential School, documenting the history and legacy of the Indian Residential School and the IRS Commemoration Project.

Louise Delisle is a community activist and proud Black woman who is working hard to address the environmental racism that has been neglected in the community of Shelburne, NS. She is a retired CNA. She is the president of the community group SEED ( South End Environmental Injustice Society).

Michelle Francis-Denny Member of Pictou Landing First Nation as well as the community liaison for the Boat Harbour Remediation Project.
