The Next Climate Frontier – Industrial Decarbonization
Tackling industrial greenhouse gas emissions is emerging as the next frontier in the crucial transition to a non-carbon economy. While significant strides have been made in power generation, transportation, agriculture, and building sectors in finding cost-effective alternatives to fossil fuel use, decarbonizing industrial processes poses a much greater challenge. This is primarily because many industrial processes rely on legacy systems, necessitating a reevaluation of heat engineering efficiency as we shift from fossil fuel heat to electricity in processes such as cement production, steelmaking, and the chemical, forest products, and food and beverage industries.
