Strike Solidarity and Divestment Organizing
Teaching is a key low-carbon profession, nurturing our children with little or no negative impact on the planet. Extinction Rebellion supports teachers! And teachers have been asking for our help getting their pension fund to divest from fossil fuels.
ON THURSDAY TEACHERS WILL BE PICKETING AT 315 Front Street or in front of the closest Conservative MPP’s office. On Friday they will be in high visibility locations around the city. We are trying to get clearer direction on where to find teachers! Sorry!
We’re asking climate activists in Toronto to bring snacks, good spirits and information about the ugly investments (an open pit coal mine in Australia!) in the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Fund to striking teachers at their local elementary school.
A one-page info sheet — with all the info teachers will need — is available (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1iiUKyf2hqZDVc3EydP93wACIS8qPMji6) for you to print at home.
PRINT SOME UP, GRAB SOME SNACKS OR HOT DRINKS, AND STOP BY THE CLOSEST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AT A TIME THAT WORKS FOR YOU.
If you live downtown go to 315 Front Street. If you live further out, teachers will also be picketing at Conservative MPPs offices.
