Dennis Pilon is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Politics at York University and one of Canada’s preeminent experts on voting system reform. Over the past 30 years, Dennis has written numerous journal articles, newspaper articles, book chapters, and books, including “The Politics of Voting: Reforming Canada’s Electoral System” and “Wrestling with Democracy: Voting Systems as Politics in the Twentieth Century West”.

Isabella O’Brien (Masters of Philosophy in Comparative Government, expected graduation August 2026) is a student at the University of Oxford. Her research interests include electoral systems and political parties. Isabella worked as a researcher at Vox Pop Labs in Canada, Australia Talks, and Polimeter. She is author of the 2025 article “Is Representation Influence? Electoral Systems and the Radical Right” in the Journal of Representative Democracy.
