Poetry Against Empire
Join us on July 7th, 8:30PM EST for our Poets Against Empire event where Jane Shi, Sinan Antoon and Yilin Wang will discuss role of language, translation and writing during a globally televised genocide, as well as what it means to be writing within and against empire. This is a fundraiser with sliding scale tickets; all proceeds will go to Gazan families that we are supporting. The event will be held in English. Sinan Antoon is an Iraq poet, novelist, translator, and scholar. He has published widely, with three collections of poetry and four novels written in Arabic and translated into many languages. A winner of various international literary prizes, Sinan is also an activist.
Jane Shi is a poet, editor, & writer, author of the chapbook Leaving Chang’e on Read (Rahila‘s Ghost Press, 2022) and the debut poetry collection echolalia echolalia, forthcoming October 1st, 2024 with Brick Books.
Yilin Wang (she/they) is a Chinese diaspora writer, poet, Chinese-English translator, and editor. She is the editor and translator of The Lantern and the Night Moths (Invisible Publishing, 2024).
