Calling all University of Toronto Students, Faculty, Staff, or Alumni:
SIGN THIS PETITION CALLING ON U OF T TO DIVEST FROM FOSSIL FUELS AND COMMIT TO CLIMATE JUSTICE NOW: https://forms.gle/5wdVZEeqkcNME1TQ8
It’s time for Canada’s largest University to divest from fossil fuels and reinvest in our futures. The University of Toronto has a responsibility and an opportunity to demonstrate institutional leadership in the fight against the growing dangers of climate change and in the fight for a socially just climate transition. Thus, the aforementioned petition calls on the University of Toronto Administration to undertake the following:
1) Declare a Climate Emergency at U of T
2) Instruct UTAM to withdraw, and henceforth not pursue, investments in companies that explore for or develop reserves of fossil fuels
3) Work with administration from Guelph, and Queens towards item #2 under the upcoming Jointly Sponsored University Pension Plan
4) Commit to carbon neutrality by 2030
5) Increase the delivery of environmental and sustainability education on all three campuses and via community outreach programs;
6) Sign the Global Universities and Colleges for the Climate Letter.
