OSEA Earth Day Webinar: ESG
ESG has become increasingly more important amongst companies in the public sector recently. Publicly traded companies are facing greater scrutiny from investors on the disclosure of climate related financial risk. How will new regulations from the Ontario Capital Markets Authority impact the energy sector here while mandating Climate Related Disclosure? (The OSFI and the BOC released a paper seeking feedback from the financial sector). OSEA’s Earth Day webinar will help to further educate and inform about the impacts of ESG on the evolving Ontario energy sector.
PANEL 1: Toby Heaps, CEO and Co-Founder of Corporate Knights, will be moderating the panel and guide panelists through a series of questions pertaining to ESG implications on climate change mitigation, ESG trends in the energy sector, impacts of ESG reporting including measurement, and changing brand strategy. The panel will consist of senior representatives from Ontario’s energy sector including Enbridge, Enwave, and Bullfrog Power.
PANEL 2: Alex Osbourne-Saponja of Sustainalytics Morningstar will pose questions relating to ESG reporting and regulation, investor disclosure on climate related financial risk, including ESG impacts on shareholder value, and cash flows. The issue of potential liability and or credit risk from the view of lenders/investors/asset managers/rating firms will be reviewed. The panel will consist of senior representatives from the BMO, DBS Morningstar, and VCIB.
