Ontario is NOT for Sale
In the past year, Ontario has experienced a slew of regressive policies aiming to overturn decades of environmental protections put in place by previous governments of all political stripes. The list is staggering: the cancellation of the climate act and cap-and-trade, the legal challenge to carbon pricing, Bill 66, a gutting of the Endangered Species Act, changes to the Environmental Assessment Act, Growth Plan, and more on the way.
Our day will kick off with a panel featuring special guests Dianne Saxe, the former Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, Mayor Rob Burton of Oakville, Theresa McClenaghan, Executive Director and Counsel of the Canadian Environmental Law Association, and Tim Gray, Executive Director of Environmental Defence. They will discuss the changing political environment in Ontario, and what that means for the environmental movement.
The panel will be followed by a series of sessions aimed at identifying best practices and areas for collaboration, and building a strategy for tying all the work that we do together in one movement.
