Join us to explore what it means to respect Indigenous Governance as an environmentalist and environmental advocate. As Canada and BC both embrace the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples we will probe questions like: What is an Indigenous Governing Body and how does it relate to Indigenous Governance? How did the creation of Canada and British Columbia and their laws and policies impact Indigenous Peoples? How do the impacts of colonization remain and manifest themselves today? What does it look like to respect Indigenous Governance as a non-Indigenous person or organization? How can environmental movements and organizations grow their awareness and operations to be more respectful?
Please join us for an interactive and meaningful evening.
