Healing our Earth Together
Healing our Earth – Together Thursday April 22nd 6 pm
This year we are collaborating for Earth Day with Drawdown Toronto! All welcome!
We note that this event is occurring during Ramadan. If for this reason or any other you are unable to attend our evening presentation please sign up and we’ll send you a follow up note with the recording link.
If there was a hospital for sick planets, Mother Earth would be in the ICU in severe respiratory distress. It’s a critical time as we navigate our recovery from the global pandemic, a time to remember and value the connection between the health of people, planet, and all living things. The air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat all depend on natural systems that are threatened by development, pollution and over-exploitation.
As we accept this reality, our hearts begin to open. Science is catching up to Indigenous thought – that the Earth is a physiological, living and therefore sacred, being. Living in harmony with our planet can lead us forward. We can embrace the opportunity to reimagine and build a better world.
This Earth Day, join us as we take a pause to reflect on how to better respect, protect and restore our planet’s life support systems, so that we can chart a path to a flourishing future for the generations to come, and heal ourselves in the process.
“If the world is to be healed through human efforts, it will be by ordinary people, people whose love for this life is even greater than their fear.” ― Joanna Macy

Planting trees, particularly ones that bear fruit, has tremendous benefits to the planet, people, and communities. From encouraging pollinators, to capturing carbon, to localizing food supply, trees are truly magic.
This spring, in honour of all that trees do, we invite you to donate a tree and encourage others in your network to do the same! And while you’re at it, why not get a tree for your own backyard?Last year, Thorncliffe Park Urban Farmers received and planted nearly 40 trees to create an urban orchard.
This year we’re focusing on Tanridge and Asbridges Community Farms in North Etobicoke, close to the Humber River and a Toronto Community Housing block. Tanridge is being created on TRCA land to grow food for the community, create value added products for sale, and serve as a gathering space for events. The space is meant to promote healing, opportunity and growth for the community. For more information, visit:https://www.transitiontreemobile.org/product/gift-tree-hugger/ or https://www.transitiontreemobile.org/product/gift-garden-gnome-giver/ Delivery will be mid-May — see website for details“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”(Chinese proverb)
