Elxn 2019 and the Climate Crisis: A Youth Town Hall

This October, we will be voting for climate action in #Elxn43.

We need politicians who will fight for an ambitious plan that deals with multiple crises at the same time. This plan has to be bold and far reaching, cutting emissions in half in 11 years. We need a plan that works with both Indigenous knowledge and climate science. We need a plan that restores Indigenous sovereignty, upholds migrant justice, and protects ALL workers.

Join us on Thursday October 3rd at the Tranzac Club from 6-8 PM as we discuss what it means to vote for the climate in the upcoming federal election. The night will be kicked off by a youth panel of climate, labour, and migrant justice activists, and then we will have a quick discussion on climate action with local MP candidates from across the GTA before splitting off into a roundtable town hall with all of the candidates, where you’ll get to speak one-on-one with candidates about their plans for climate action.

After this, from 8-10 PM, we’ll be hosting a PARTY for the climate with DJ Heebiejabi to relieve some stress and ground ourselves in a communal energy, ready to fight for our future!

There will be a cash bar with a wristband policy.

**Access Notes**
The Tranzac is located at 292 Brunswick Avenue, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is between Spadina Subway (Bloor Danforth & University lines) and Bathurst Subway stations. There is a Green P (municipal) parking lot on the north side of the building, off of Barbara Barett Lane (accessible from Borden Street), and there is an additional Green P one block away, accessible from Lippincott Street.

The Tranzac is a wheelchair-accessible venue. A cement ramp leads up to the double-door entrance with a threshold of 1 inch. Once inside, there is a spacious, tiled entryway leading to three different rooms. Although the venue offers no automatic features, each venue room has double door entrances. The Main Hall has tiled flooring, and the room features the main stage and a 44 inch-high bar. Two gender-neutral are located on the main floor, with push doors that swing inside revealing one accessible stall in each room. It is important to note that although the stall doors each measure 36 inches wide, the entrance into the bathrooms is 32 inches. Each accessible stall door swung outwards, and contained two grab bars around the toilets. Sink height was 29 inches with plenty of clearance space underneath.
