Climate Justice Toronto Supports Airport Workers!
Poverty wages won’t fly! This Labour Day weekend, we’re showing up in solidarity with TAWC: Toronto Airport Workers’ Council to make sure that airport workers’ voices are heard.
For us, supporting workers in the aviation industry isn’t a contradiction. When the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), which represents 50 000 flight attendants, endorsed the Green New Deal, they declared: “Solutions to climate change don’t threaten aviation jobs; it’s climate change itself that’s the job killer.” With severe turbulence, volatile weather, and extreme heat making aviation more dangerous, airport workers in the air and on the ground know the consequences of climate change firsthand.
In order to win a Green New Deal and create a green economy with good union jobs for all, we must ensure that no worker is left behind, including those in carbon-intensive sectors. That means showing up for workers’ struggles now. #insolidaritywefly #airportworkers
– All airport workers deserve a living wage!
– Stop contract flipping!
– End unpaid work!
– No privatization!
– There will also be ice cream, churros, and music!
