Climate Crisis 101: Building the Working Class Majority
Climate Justice Toronto is launching our very first political education training — Climate Crisis 101: Building The Working Class Majority. We are an organization focused on putting our left-wing ideals into practice in the real world, but we also feel it important to be able to understand and analyze what is wrong, so we can strategize about how we can fight for something better. All are welcome no matter how much or how little you know. This training is especially suitable for those who have little or no political education — we’ll be working from the very basics on up.
We will be addressing major topics on the left, and educating about CJTO’s class-centered analysis of the climate crisis. Most of all, we’ll be talking about our shared vision to organize for power and win climate action for the working class. Topics include:
- Why is there a climate crisis?
- What is capitalism? What is socialism?
- Who is the working class, and why do we care?
- Why has the climate movement failed to win substantive material change?
- Why has traditional environmental advocacy failed generally?
- How have organizations and movements past and present won?
- How do we organize the working class majority with the power to win the socialist future we want?
Join us on November 22nd, 6:30-9PM, near Queen St W and Spadina (exact address upon RSVP). We will have some snacks for attendees.
