Climate Action Scarborough Summit
Climate Action Scarborough would like to acknowledge that the land we are standing on today is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.
Are you between the ages of 16-29? Do you care about the environment but wish there were more events and initiatives happening in Scarborough? Or, are you already involved in initiatives and would like to learn more about how to take action while giving serious consideration to racial justice issues? If you are interested in learning about ways to take action for the planet while fighting environmental racism, then look no further!
Climate Action Scarborough would like to welcome folks to our first-ever youth environment and racial justice summit; the Climate Action Scarborough Summit. This FREE summit will involve keynote speakers, workshops, discussion opportunities, and performances! Lunch will be provided. The schedule for this event will be posted shortly. Follow us on social media for updates @UARRToronto.
Climate Action Scarborough seeks to address environmental racism and how climate change is connected to issues of social and racial justice. At Climate Action Scarborough, we believe that justice for the environment is connected to justice for the people and vice versa. Our goal is to address environmental racism within our community and inspire the Scarborough community to get involved by providing opportunities for education and activism that is closer to home.
Justice for Scarborough. Justice for the planet. Justice for all.
