Circular Design Toolkit in Practice: Interactive Workshop

Overview

Guided 90-min working session: apply Canada’s Circular Design Toolkit to a real product, explore spec tweaks, trade-offs & next steps.

Apply Canada’s Circular Design Toolkit to a real product in a guided 90-minute virtual working session designed to help apparel teams (Design/Product Development, Sourcing, and Sustainability/ESG) decide practical spec tweaks, navigate trade-offs, and identify next-step tests.

Participants bring one product as a mini case study and, through guided prompts and peer discussion, leave with a clear vision and actions they can take back into product development. The session is intentionally designed to support active participation, shared problem-solving, and decision-making grounded in real product development constraints, so participants leave with clarity on what to do next, not just what to consider.

Why this is different:

  • Toolkit-first: Uses the Toolkit as a practical decision aid, not a lecture
  • Practical + hands on: Designed to create momentum in 90 minutes
  • Grounded in Canada: Built for current infrastructure and real-world constraints

Limited seats: Registration is capped at 5 seats per organization to keep the session highly interactive; we recommend registering the department lead(s) who can bring learnings back and drive next steps internally. To support smooth discussion and avoid audio feedback, we ask that participants join from their own device and separate space where possible.

Confidentiality note: This session follows the Chatham House Rule, participants are welcome to share learnings, but not attribute comments, examples, or identities to other organizations or individuals.

Private sessions available (by request): Ideal for organizations that want to include more than 5 participants, align a larger cross-functional team, or prefer a company-only session. Reach out to discuss options.

This event is presented by Fashion Takes Action (FTA), through its collaborative work convening the Canadian Circular Textiles Consortium (CCTC). Facilitated by: Marianne Coquelicot Mercier (CHROMA Consulting), Mika Unterman, and Fashion Takes Action.
