Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA) Course
Wilderness Advanced First Aid is a comprehensive medical training course designed for remote professionals or wilderness leaders who venture into remote and challenging environments. This is an entry-level course, delivered by Wilderness Medical Associates International (WMAI), using the WMAI curriculum.
Wilderness Medicine differs significantly from standard first aid courses and other trainings that are oriented toward urban environments. This course teaches how to manage medical emergencies when hospitals and rescue services may not be available for an extensive time period. It prepares students for emergency situations that involve prolonged patient care, severe environments, and improvised equipment.
We are excited to offer an accessible Toronto-based First Aid certification option to people who live in the GTA once again. It will be hosted at the Evergreen Brickworks in Toronto each day, almost entirely outside. Accommodations and food will not be provided or included in the course fees. Students will need to bring their own lunch and snacks each day. The location is accessible by TTC, and we hope that it is a place that people can commute to from their homes with relative ease each day.
