CityTalk – “National Housing Accord: a strategy to end Canada’s rental housing crisis?”

Canada’s housing crisis has only worsened in recent years. The crisis is especially acute for the millions of Canadians who rent. In August 2023, a roundtable of non-profit and for-profit housing providers, developers and investors put forward a plan to restore affordability, protect Canada’s most vulnerable, and get us to CMHC’s goal of two million new affordable market rentals by 2023. Their National Housing Accord includes ten actionable items for the federal government.

Join us with the plan’s authors to discuss the concrete actions the federal government can do to get affordable housing options built across the country. If implemented, it could address housing affordability, meet the needs of our growing population, create jobs and play a significant role in ending homelessness.
