Introducing a new quantitative, indicators-based rating of environmental sustainability in global cities. Our inaugural index ranks 50 large and mid-sized cities on six continents.
With an estimated 4.3 billion people living in urban areas (and a United Nations estimate suggesting another 2.5 billion people by 2050), cities must deploy mitigative and adaptive strategies to meet the needs of both a warming planet and a growing population.
