ENGO-FIRST NATION PARTNERSHIPS ASSESSMENT: A KINSHIP-BASED APPROACH

Assessment practices within the not-for-profit sector have increasingly taken account of Indigenous peoples’ needs and goals. Yet, more work is needed to bring Indigenous approaches into assessing First Nation-ENGO partnerships. This webinar will provide ENGO leaders, staff, and volunteers with a look at a kinship-based approach to partnership assessment. We will respond to questions such as What does assessment look like through a relationship lens? and How might project partners ensure that assessment is accessible to all within Indigenous communities? Our goal will be to increase non-Indigenous organizations’ awareness about how partnership assessment might look from an Indigenous perspective. A draft version of an assessment tool will be presented.

Dr. Damien Lee is a member of Fort William First Nation and a citizen of the Anishinaabe nation. He was adopted into his community as a baby and raised as Anishinaabe by his family. He is an Assistant Professor at X University and the Canada Research Chair in Biskaabiiyang and Indigenous Political Resurgence.
