DESCRIPTION:TEA is hosting an exclusive panel discussion on all things municipal election!\nGet a behind-the-scenes look at how city politics works, the power of local voices and local governments, what’s on the table for the environment and how this election can help build a greener city. Plus, you’ll get a sneak peek at TEA’s candidate survey results on key local environmental issues.\n \n\n\nPanelist:\nSarah Buchanan – Campaigns Director, TEA\nSarah Buchanan has been TEA’s Campaigns Director since July 2021. She has worked both inside and outside City Hall to build a more inclusive, healthy, vibrant, and green community. Her career has spanned jobs in media, politics, and climate change advocacy. Sarah has also worked for a City Councillor in Toronto, focusing on child care policy, water, transportation and housing issues.\nGord Perks\nGord Perks was the City Councillor for Parkdale-High Park from 2006 to 2026. Before becoming a Councillor, Gord worked in the environmental movement from 1987 to 2005 which included working with the Toronto Environmental Alliance. For over 20 years, he has remained an effective advocate on environmental issues. He has encouraged and raised awareness of conservation, renewable energy and air quality in our city. His achievements include leading the campaign to pass Toronto’s pesticide by-law, playing a key role in expanding Toronto’s blue and grey box recycling programs, launching organic waste collection and composting, and a strong voice on protecting our waterfront.\nInori Roy – Features Editor, The Local\nInori Roy is a Toronto-based feature writer and editor at The Local magazine, where she focuses on longform storytelling about city issues including politics, urban health, climate, and more. The Local is one of the few media outlets providing fact-checked information about every local candidate.\nWith the municipal election right around the corner, come hear from our expert panel on the issues, opportunities, and decisions that will shape our city’s future. Learn about how local government works, where change can happen, and how your voice can help build a greener future.\nThere is no set admission fee to ensure cost isn’t a barrier to attend.
