SUMMARY:Building a Foundation in Evaluation
DESCRIPTION:Evaluation is an essential part of creating meaningful change. It provides a structured way to assess what is working, what needs adjustment, and where the greatest needs lie within a community. By employing a variety of evaluation techniques, we can uncover valuable insights about how to best support communities in achieving their goals. This involves identifying gaps, understanding barriers, and capturing the successes that pave the way for progress. Effective evaluation not only ensures that our efforts are aligned with the community’s priorities but also builds accountability, ensuring that resources are used where they can have the greatest impact. \nDespite its importance, evaluation often takes a back seat in change-making initiatives, as resources—both human and financial—are concentrated on implementing projects, leaving little capacity for strategic learning. This workshop is designed to address that gap by equipping project managers and coordinators with foundational knowledge about evaluation. Participants will explore what evaluation entails, why it matters, the basic steps involved, and practical strategies to ensure equity is at the heart of the process. \nLanguage: The workshop will be conducted in English; however, the slides will be bilingual, all activities will be prepared in English and French and the presenter is also bilingual in English and French and would be happy to receive questions in either official language. \n \n\n\n\n\nWhat will you learn?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDevelop Foundational Evaluation Skills: Equip participants with the knowledge and tools to understand the purpose of evaluation, its key steps, and how to implement it effectively in their projects. \n\n\nPromote Equity-Centred Evaluation Practices: Ensure participants can integrate equity into their evaluation processes, ensuring inclusive and meaningful outcomes for all stakeholders. \n\n\nFoster Strategic Learning and Accountability: Enable participants to use evaluation findings to inform decision-making, improve project implementation, and demonstrate impact to stakeholders. \n\n\n\n\n\n
