DESCRIPTION:It has been more than a year of what the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has described as Israel’s plausible genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza.\nTo date, at least 42,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed, including more than 16,000 children. The Canadian government can abide by the ICJ opinions and help stop the climbing death toll by enacting a full, two-way arms embargo on Israel.\nOn Tuesday November 12th, you can help compel the federal government to finally impose a full arms embargo by joining us in a phone zap to escalate the pressure on MPs.\nThe rulings from the ICJ in both January and May required Israel to take proactive steps to prevent genocide in the Gaza strip, and Canada has a moral and legal obligation to do everything within its power to do the same.\nYou and I can help by joining the upcoming phone zap to urge MPs, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to immediately suspend all arms exports and imports to and from Israel.\nWhen: Tuesday, November 12th @ 3pm PT / 4pm MT / 5pm CT / 6pm ET / 7pm AT / 7:30pm NT\n \nTo join, you’ll need a device to connect to the Zoom meeting, as well as a phone.\nThis is an easy and effective way to make your voice heard. Council of Canadians staff will support you to work through the process and offer a script which you can adapt to your own situation.\nAt the phone zap, we’ll gather from across the country to collectively grieve the violence and deaths we’ve watched for the past 13 months, and we’ll channel that grief and anger into action by literally calling our elected leaders and demanding they do what is within their power to stop more deaths.\n
