SUMMARY:Climate Change: What Can Be Done? & Opportunities for Large-Scale Action
DESCRIPTION:Climate Change Impacts and Opportunity for Large-Scale Action\nWe will begin by briefly outlining the major impact of climate change and then provide an overview of current climate trends. Then, we will outline the opportunity for large-scale action by highlighting significant climate solutions that can be implemented on a very large scale. More specifically, this event will include:\n\nA specially prepared short video outlining expected sea level rise and some of its impacts.\nA speaker further expands on the impacts of sea level rise.\nA specially prepared short video outlining climate change trends and the need for climate action on a sufficient scale.\nPaul Stevers provides some brief comments about the climate trends and the need for very large-scale climate action. Then, he will introduce the next video.\nA specially prepared set of short videos outlining climate solutions that can be implemented on a large scale.\nPaul Stevers highlights key points about climate solutions in the previous video.\nSelected experts speak about specific climate solutions that are being scaled-up.\nSusan McGeachie introduces the new Global Climate Finance Accelerator and its strategy to scale up funding for climate action.\n\nTickets will include a (1) drink from the bar.\nThe venue has two very large screens that will display the short videos and a high-quality speaker system to provide the audio for these videos. Snacks will be complimentary, and drinks will be available for purchase. The event space is designed to provide a casual atmosphere and hospitality for our audience while supporting a cause that demands immediate and meaningful attention.\nEvent Objectives: Our primary focus is to create awareness about current climate trends and opportunities for large-scale climate action. As well, we want to inform people on how they can increase their impact. For example, they can donate to organizations that support scaling-up climate solutions such as the Toronto Foundation Climate Change Giving Circle and the Global Climate Finance Accelerator or invest in the ventures that these organizations support.\nFor more information about this event, visit ClimateSAN’s webpage: Climate Change: What Can Be Done? Opportunities for Large-Scale Climate Action.\nAbout Spirit of York: Located in Toronto’s historic 180-year-old Distillery District, which was once home to the largest Distillery in the World, Spirit of York Distillery Co. is committed to crafting Canada’s best-tasting spirits. Their spacious Tasting Lounge has a large central Bar surrounded by exposed brick and the original wooden beams and supports.\n
