DESCRIPTION:8 80 Cities is a non-profit organization aiming to create healthier, more equitable, and sustainable cities. In 10 years, the organization has worked with over 350 communities over 6 continents, and partnered with global leaders in public health, urban design, transportation, and more.\nThe Centre for Active Transportation (TCAT) envisions a future of cities with clean air, healthier populations, and more accessible transport systems. The group is recognized as the pioneers of a sustainability project completed between 2018 and 2020 that ranked among the top 20 projects completed in Canada in that time frame.\nPark People started with the question: “How can we all play a role in making our parks better serve people and neighborhoods?”. Since its founding, the organization has made an effort to answer this question by having expanded to over 800 groups across all Canadian provinces.\nJoin us with 8 80 Cities, The Centre for Active Transportation (TCAT), and Park People in a tour of their offices at 401 Richmond, Toronto’s art & culture hub!\nPlease Note \nThis is a high school students-only event. Parents are allowed to stay on-site but we do not have the capacity to include them in our tour.\nMeeting Point\nWe will begin the tour at 8 80 Cities on the 3rd floor in Studio #364.\nSchedule\n11:00am: Meet at 401 Richmond St W, Studio #364, Toronto, ON M5V 3A8\n11:15am – 11:45am: Welcome Presentation from 8 80 Cities and TCAT\n11:45am – 12:15pm: Tour of the building\n12:15pm – 12:30pm: Tour of Park People’s office\n12:30pm – 1:30pm: Free Lunch and Interactive Placemaking Activity\nDirections\n401 Richmond Street West is located on Richmond Street just east of Spadina Avenue. Please note that Richmond Street runs one way going west.\n401 Richmond can be accessed by TTC by taking the 510 Spadina streetcar from Spadina subway station or Union Station, or the 501 Queen streetcar.\nPlease visit https://401richmond.com/visit/ ( https://401richmond.com/visit/ ) for more information.\nParking\n401 Richmond does not offer visitor or free parking at any time. There are a number of parking lots in the immediate area.\nVisitors are encouraged to walk or bike to 401 Richmond. The building is easily accessed via the Adelaide bike lane running east, or the Richmond bike lane running west.
