DESCRIPTION:Saturday June 22, 9am-5pm and Sunday June 23, 9am – 5pm.\nWelcome to the Full Spectrum Resistance Teach-In, a two-day gathering inspired by Aric McBay’s groundbreaking work. McBay’s book delves into humanity’s most cherished stories from both social and environmental movements worldwide: from Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, to local movements like the infiltrations that occurred leading up to the G20 protests in Toronto, ON. Through many case studies, McBay’s books help to understand how institutions have tried to dismantle activist movements, and how we can overcome those forces through a diversity of strategies and tactics.\nThis teach-in is for activists of all kinds – social and environmental – to deepen their knowledge and refine their skills. This teach-in is for building a strong culture of resistance, and to equip campaigns with effective strategies for success.\nBut this event goes beyond Aric’s work: it’ll also feature diverse speakers from different movements who offer a range of perspectives and practical approaches.\nSpeakers include:\n\n\nEve Saint, a Wet’suwet’en land defender\n\n\nCheyenne Sundance, an urban farmer and educator of of Sundance Harvest and Sundance Commons\n\n\nChloe Tse, an organizer for divestments\n\n\nMichelle Woodhouse, a Metis water defender with a focus on Line 5\n\n\nRosanne, Vicki, Sara, and Calista Monague, 3 generations from Beausoleil First Nations that fought to protect a pristine aquifer at Site 41\n\n\nGerry Dunn, a long-time activist and facilitator for Stop Line 9 Toronto\n\n\nPYM, Labour for Palestine, TSSP, OccupUofT, IJV, Jews Say No to Genocide\n\n\nand more!\n\n\nYou can find out more about the diverse group of speakers on their Instagram page @fullspectrumresistance2024\nIn addition to talks and discussions led by Aric, they’re calling in mindfulness, arts, and music for deeper learning.
