SUMMARY:Broadbent Institute 2024 Progress Summit
DESCRIPTION:Ed Broadbent’s doctoral dissertation written in 1966 entitled The Good Society of John Stuart Mill concludes that, “it is clear in principle that only a collectively owned economy can avoid exploitation, and thus make the good society realizable.”\nThe Good Society was a central thesis to the Broadbent Principles for Canadian Social Democracy, emphasizing that economic and democratic rights and freedoms can only be enjoyed by all Canadians with economic equality.\nAs a tribute to Ed Broadbent’s legacy of ideas and action, the 2024 Progress Summit, thematically entitled Making the Good Society, continues Ed’s fight for equality and looks at today’s issues of political economy, including inflation, housing, climate action, workers’ empowerment and more.\n
