DESCRIPTION:As the climate crisis intensifies around the world, how is Canada showing up within the international community?\nJoin us for a webinar, hosted by Anjali Appadurai, exploring the idea of “Fair Shares”, a key component of climate justice that movements in the Global South have championed for decades.\nThe climate crisis is driven by deep histories of colonialism, global capitalism, international trade, geopolitics and imperialism. All of these forces come together to create the political deadlock that we find ourselves in today. This crisis, however, also has a deep history of organized struggle, which began in the Global South where communities have been pushing back against the root causes of this crisis for decades. We need to understand this history and the current global big picture in order to truly understand “Climate Justice”. With this international perspective in mind, we can do our local and regional work more effectively.\n****\nAlors que la crise climatique s’intensifie dans le monde entier, comment le Canada se positionne-t-il au sein de la communauté internationale ?\nRejoignez-nous pour un webinaire explorant l’idée de “Fair Shares”, un élément clé de la justice climatique que les mouvements du Sud ont défendu pendant des décennies.\nLa crise climatique est le résultat d’une longue histoire de colonialisme, de capitalisme mondial, de commerce international, de géopolitique et d’impérialisme. Toutes ces forces se conjuguent pour créer l’impasse politique dans laquelle nous nous trouvons aujourd’hui. Cependant, cette crise a aussi une profonde histoire de résistance organisée, qui a commencé dans les pays du Sud, où les communautés se sont opposées aux causes profondes de cette crise pendant des décennies. Nous devons comprendre cette histoire et la situation globale actuelle afin de comprendre véritablement la justice climatique. En gardant à l’esprit cette perspective internationale, nous pourrons travailler plus efficacement au niveau local.\n
