DESCRIPTION:We will be coming together to share about the impacts of Trans Mountain pipeline tar sands expansion on communities, and about the insurance and financing behind the risky project.\nSpeakers Melina Laboucan Massimo, Cedar George Parker, and Sven Biggs- MCd by Mary Lovell\nWe are calling on major insurers and banks to rule out business with the project as it violates Indigenous rights, harms our climate, and pollutes air we breathe and water we drink.\nExpect digital asks, and further ways to stay engaged in the fight against Trans Mountain.\nWe’re demanding that insurers Liberty Mutual, AIG, Beazley, CNA Hardy:\n–Publicly commit to not renew their insurance policy for Trans Mountain for 2023;\n–Rule out insuring and investing in all tar sands extraction and transport projects and companies;\n—Adopt a policy to ensure that projects and companies they insure have obtained the Free, Prior, and Informed Consent of impacted communities, particularly Indigenous companies.\nAnd that the banks including RBC rule out project finance for the pipeline\nIf you’re interested but can’t make the time, we will be recording- and you can sign up for further Trans Mountain finance and insurance organizing here. https://forms.gle/a7k4zxcKjnMQMxSn9\n
