DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nConnect with your carbon footprint, understand it, and walk away with a plan to reduce it\n\n*Note that all 6 workshops must be attended*\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nAre you looking to learn more about reducing your carbon footprint as a Torontonian? Have you ever felt isolated speaking with friends about environmental concerns? Are you looking to make a difference but aren’t sure where to start? We understand this can be an overwhelming topic, but rest assured you are not alone! You’ve come to the right place.\nJoin us on our 6 weeks session for a mindful conversation around coffee with our incredible facilitators that will help you to connect with your carbon footprint, understand your role in the current climate crisis & walk away with a plan that you can implement in your day-to-day lives to reduce it.\nOur flagship Six-Week Session program encourages you to explore the relationship between your life and climate change and helps you work with the complex emotions that make it difficult to act. \nYou don’t have to do it alone. Each Six-Week Session leaves you with increased clarity of the tools and resources available to take your own approach toward a less carbon-intensive life. The sessions are made up of eight participants and are led by two trained Climate Action Facilitators. These facilitators work with you to co-create a safe and judgement-free space for all participants.\nContent:\n\nThe content of the sessions is based on Carbon Conversations UK. Research by Southampton University (Buchs et al 2015) found people make average reductions of 3.7 tonnes immediately after participation. \nGroup members are encouraged to explore how to halve their footprints over a 4-5 year period.\nThe groups encourage people to be open, work through the conflicts about carbon reduction and support each other.\nThe written materials and games provide well-researched, reliable background information for the reflective and personal discussions.\nPeople are encouraged to move towards action at whatever level and whatever speed works for them.\n\nDates:\n(Wednesdays) March 9, 16, 23 and April 6, 13, 20* *You must attend all six sessions.\n6 pm to 8 pm\nWhat people are saying: \n“Before the sessions, I definitely was experiencing the uncertainty and hesitancy that many people are faced with when beginning a journey of climate action. Climate change can leave individuals feeling hopeless and unmotivated. CCTO helps people find the ability to take climate action. In Toronto alone, 78% of residents are concerned about climate change, yet 48% don’t know what to do about it.
