DESCRIPTION:In Person & Online Event:\n1439 Rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest\nMontréal, QC H3G 1S6\nCanada\nConcordia Student Union, Climate Emergency Unit, Coalition étudiante pour un virage environnemental et social, CUTV, and Sustainability Action Fund bring you a timely, hybrid (in-person and virtual), town hall to discuss climate breakdown, the inequities that exist in our food, economic, social, and political systems, and ways we could move forward.\nRSVP as soon as possible since in-person seating is limited and we might not have tickets at the door! This live event will also be live-streamed (see link above).\nOur moderator for the evening:\nBianca Mugyenyi: Executive Director of the Canadian Foreign Policy Institute and former Co-Executive Director of The Leap. She is a Montreal-based activist and co-author of @Stop Signs: cars and capitalism on the road to economic, social and ecological decay.\nOur speakers:\nLinda McQuaig: Activist, a columnist for the Toronto Star, and a renowned author making the case for a more egalitarian distribution of wealth and power. She is the author of The Trouble with Billionaires, and, more recently, The Sport & Prey of Capitalists.\nMarlene Hale: Known as Chef Maluh, Marlene is a Wet’suwet’en chef, educator, and climate justice activist. She has worked with several Indigenous organizations, promoting accessible healthy food and reconnection with nature and traditional culture heritage as well as the Wet’suwet’en land protection. She has just returned from a trip to British Columbia where she connected with the land defender and activists involved at the Fairy Creek blockade.\nSeth Klein: Team Lead and Director of Strategy of the Climate Emergency Unit. He is the author of A Good War: Mobilizing Canada for the Climate Emergency (published in 2020) and writes a regular column for the National Observer.\nPaul Taylor: Executive Director of FoodShare Toronto and a lifelong anti-poverty activist. He also teaches at Simon Fraser University, is a regular political commentator on CTV and has written numerous op-eds and columns on various social issues.\nDamon Matthews: Review Editor for the Sixth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He is Professor and Research Chair in Climate Science and Sustainability at Concordia University. His work focuses on quantifying the remaining carbon budget to assess equitable approaches to allocate emission allowances to individual countries.\nWe look forward to seeing you there !\n
