DESCRIPTION:Scientists have issued a “code red for humanity” to tackle the climate crisis, but governments continue to let corporations call the shots.\nTogether, we can break the grip of corporate influence. Organize our communities to pressure MPs to support just transition legislation.\nGreen Jobs Oshawa is organizing in support of a just transition here in town and across the country. Part of this just transition must include harnessing the potential of the manufacturing sector in Canada to produce socially beneficial products that can bring about a decarbonized economy, rather than allowing manufacturing to be done only for private profit.\nThis event is part of the Climate Code Red week of action organized by the Council of Canadians. Learn more at Canadians.org/greennewdeal\nJoin Green Jobs Oshawa on Saturday October 16th at 2pm at our Just Transition mural (103 Simcoe St. S across from Memorial Park) to demonstrate our support for just transition legislation that:\n• Legislates fair-share emissions reductions in Canada and beyond\n• Protects and strengthens worker rights, Indigenous rights, human rights and ensures migrant justice\n• Expands the social safety net and reduces growing inequality\n• Creates new economic institutions, including public ownership, to implement the transition\n• Creates good green jobs and drives inclusive workforce development\nThis event will include speakers from Canadian and global labour and environmental movements.\nThis event will be streamed live at: facebook.com/GreenJobsOshawa\nPlease wear a mask and follow COVID protocols if attending this event in person.\n
