DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join us on Monday, October 18th for a webinar and learning session, exploring how a resident-led approach to climate engagement can create deep and meaningful engagement and support community-led climate solutions.\nEnvironmental organizations have typically deployed outreach strategies that are designed to compel people to adopt pre-defined climate goals and actions. This approach stands in opposition to commitments to build a more inclusive and equitable climate movement. At a time where we face multiple, intersecting crises, it is critical to support deep, meaningful climate engagement that speaks to other community priorities.\nIn this webinar:\n– The Toronto Environmental Alliance (TEA) will share lessons from their learning journey adopting a resident-led approach and supporting community-centred solutions, sharing insights and lessons from the “Accelerating Neighbourhood Climate Solutions Through Community Hubs” initiative.\n– The Centre for Connected Communities (C3) will share insights from their award-winning work developing a connected communities approach and explore how the “10 Keys to Connected Communities” can be applied to climate work.\nThis webinar is open to all who are interested in deepening their climate engagement practice, supporting resident climate leadership, and engaging in authentic community-building processes.\nDATE: October 18th, 2021\nWEBINAR: 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm\nDISCUSSION SESSION (optional): 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm\nBefore the webinar, a copy of our new guide “SOWING THE SEEDS FOR LOCAL CLIMATE LEADERSHIP: A LEARNING GUIDE FOR RESIDENT ENGAGEMENT USING A CONNECTED COMMUNITIES APPROACH” will be available for download.
