SUMMARY:CV Conversations: Mary Pickering of Low Carbon Cities Canada (LC3)
DESCRIPTION:\nGet to know the innovators and leaders working on climate solutions and climate justice during this live interview series. Each event includes a Q&A period with the audience. Come deepen your understanding of how we can solve the climate crisis, and hear some inspiring personal stories along the way.\n \nOn Thursday, March 25, we’re speaking with Mary Pickering, VP of Strategy & Partnerships with The Atmospheric Fund and Senior Advisor to Low Carbon Cities Canada (LC3) – an ambitious partnership to help cities reach their full emissions reduction potential while unlocking co-benefits for local communities.\n\nAbout Our Conversation\nWe have now under ten years to see drastic reduction of green house gas emissions to avoid the worst of climate change. This means we don’t just need solutions, but rather we need solutions that are built for scale. This conversation will dive into the questions at the heart of this distinction.\nHow do we design for scale of impact?\nWhat is the role of entreprenuers in this work?\nWhere are the areas of opportunity that exist now?\nIf we are to get to Net Zero by 2050, we’ve got to start seeing big changes starting now and as Mary has seen over her career, designing for those changes at the beginning is imperative to their success.\nAbout Our Guest\nMary Pickering works with The Atmospheric Fund to help drive down carbon in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. Mary leads collective impact and partnership initiatives and is an accredited partnership broker, mentor and trainer for the international Partnership Brokers Association. Mary currently serves as a senior advisor for a new national climate program – Low Carbon Cities Canada – focused on enabling accelerated scale-up of low-carbon solutions while delivering valuable community benefits in an equitable way. Find her on LinkedIn. \nAbout the Moderator\nStefan Hostetter is a life long environmentalist, storyteller, and community builder. As the Community Manager of CSI Spadina with the Centre for Social Innovation he supports CSI’s Climate Ventures space and activates CSI’s community of social entrepreneurs and innovators. Outside of CSI, he is the Co-Chair of the Toronto Climate Action Network, co-hosts the Green Majority, a nationally syndicated radio show that covers environmental topics, and co-produces the Stories We Don’t Tell, a monthly storytelling series and podcast on stories that society would rather leave untold. Find him on Twitter. \nPlease note that we’ll use Zoom to connect. The link will be sent to confirmed registrants through Eventbrite via email before the event.\n\n\n
