Would you like to meet like-minded community members from the Bathurst-Finch area and neighbouring communities?\nIf so, join us at the following four interactive online waste reduction workshops!\nAll events are held on Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.\nNovember 12: Reducing food waste and saving money\nLearn about Toronto’s avoidable food waste crisis, and get practical tips on food date labels (the #1 reason food is wasted at home), how to tell whether food is good or bad, how to store food to reduce waste, and more.\nSpecial guest: Rose Barcarse, Manager of Community Programs, Second Harvest Food Bank\nNovember 19: Reduce & reuse: Towards zero-waste homes\nPlastics and waste is a big issue, and its on our mind during the pandemic. How can we address this environmental and health issue by starting at home? Get practical tips for reducing, reusing and recycling your household waste – and get ideas on ways to help build a zero waste city.\nSpecial guest: Emily Alfred, Senior Waste Campaigner, Toronto Environmental Alliance\nDecember 3: Clothing repair & reducing textile waste (7-8:30 pm)\nThe textile industry has significant environmental and climate impacts. Learn strategies for reducing your clothing waste – while having fun! Get an introduction to easy clothing repairs and hand-sewing skills, including ways to make reusable face masks.\nSpecial guest: Munira Abukar, Project Coordinator- Social Enterprise, Elza Lusufova, Sewing Hub Instructor, Scadding Court Community Centre\nDecember 17: Creating zero-waste buildings and neighbourhoods (7-8:30 pm)\nNow that you have reduced your own waste…how can you connect with others to reduce waste outside your home?
