SUMMARY:Youth for Climate and Social Justice – A Movement of Unity – Presented by CreativelyUnited.org and the Cowichan Valley Earth Guardians
DESCRIPTION:Youth for Climate and Social Justice – A Movement of Unity – Presented by CreativelyUnited.org and the Cowichan Valley Earth Guardians\nThursday, June 25, 6-8 pm PST\nThis webinar will talk about the unity of the youth climate and social justice movement. The panelists on this webinar are all young change makers who are invested in creating a more just and safer future for the next generations.\nOn this panel they will explore the importance of united actions for a better planet. We agree that the most effective change is locally grown but globally sown. These changes come in the form of community gardens, creative projects and local organizing groups. Change occurs within living systems not from above or from outside but from within, through local and diverse actions happening simultaneously on a global scale.\nOur panelists, aged 12 to 19, will speak to the diverse ways they grow change locally using their unique voices and hands on approaches. Some of these tools for change making include: music, art, scientific exploration, ecological restoration and more. The panelists will also speak to the importance of a unified movement and how they as youth from\nCanada, Japan and the United States, can come together to sow the seeds of global change and amplify each other’s voices.\nPanelists include:\n1. Katia Bannister (age 16), Leader of the Cowichan Valley Earth Guardians crew;\n2. Jasmine Hachey (15), Cowichan Valley Earth Guardians Leader-in-Training;\n3. Taeven (17), Member of Pender Island’s Salish Sea Stars;\n4. Isaac Reid (16), Member of the Cowichan Valley Earth Guardians crew;\n5. Rena Watashiwa: (14) Director of Earth Guardians Japan;\n6.
