SUMMARY:Anastasia Lintner of CELA on the Science and Art of Environmental Policymaking
DESCRIPTION:Policymaking is both a science and an art. This webinar will take you through the “science” of policymaking by providing an overview of the Canadian policy framework, including how policy gets created within the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government. Anastasia will also dive into the “art” of policymaking through stories based on her own experiences and observations in advocating for improved and enhanced environmental protections.\nParticipants will leave with an improved understanding of:\n(i) the process of environmental policymaking in Canada;\n(ii) our professional and personal roles in shaping Canadian environmental policy; and\n(iii) where to find more resources and tools.\nAbout Anastasia Lintner\n\n\n\n\nA passionate public interest advocate, Dr. Lintner is Principal of Lintner Law and Special Projects Counsel at the Canadian Environmental Law Association. Prior to this Anastasia was employed as a staff lawyer and economist with Ecojustice Canada for more than a decade. She has taught and researched at numerous post-secondary institutions, including the University of Guelph, Wilfrid Laurier University, Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, Balsillie School of International Affairs, Osgoode Hall Law School, and Queen’s University. Dr. Lintner specializes in environmental assessment, at-risk species protection, protected areas and water laws, and is a champion of Ontario’s Environmental Bill of Rights.\n\n\n\n
