SUMMARY:City Builder Climate Webinar Series #3: Climate Solutions for Transportation in Cities
DESCRIPTION:As urgency to respond to the climate crisis ramps up, prioritizing the most effective solutions for reducing emissions in the transportation sector couldn’t be more critical.\nDavid Suzuki Foundation climate policy analyst Tom Green and Foundation fellow Jérôme Laviolette delve into climate solutions for the transportation sector from policy and behavioural angles.\nThis webinar looks at transportation policies according to their ability to meet 2030 and 2050 climate goals. Ramping up ambition on low-carbon fuels, vehicle efficiency and reducing distances travelled through options such as mobility pricing are shown to be climate winners. Offering alternatives to single-occupancy vehicle use and supporting behaviour change to favor sustainable mobility options are key to reducing driving.\nHosted by Sherry Yano, it is the third in the series presented by the David Suzuki Foundation and the Climate Caucus exploring how city-builders can act together to lower greenhouse gas emissions and create vibrant and equitable communities.\nThe Climate Caucus is a network of mayors and councillors from across Canada united to fight climate change. By working together, we are more powerful. We share ideas and resources for inspiring change in our communities, and we combine our voices in calling for stronger action from the provinces and federal government.\n
