Please register as soon as possible and tell your friends to ensure the date you prefer.\nWHERE: Anarres Apothecary, 1076 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON, M6H 1M6\n1.5 blocks East of Dufferin subway on the North side of Bloor.\nREGISTER Below, please.\nCertificate: upon request, 6 instruction hours\nAromatherapy Certification: Required workshop http://www.anarreshealth.ca/product/aromatherapy-certification-program\nCOFFEE, TEA AND VEGAN/HALLAL/KOSHER LUNCH IS INCLUDED.\nIf it can kill a bug, what’s it doing to me?\nDEET, permethrins and other common insect repellants ingredients are often neurotoxic insecticides that you are directed to apply to your skin, and worse, the skin of your vulnerable children! Added to these “chemical name” ingredients are the usual toxins found in the base lotions and creams. What it comes down to is that if it can kill a bug, it can harm you. Contrary to popular belief, some natural traditional ingredients have been demonstrated – in both cage and field studies – to be just as effective, or even more effective, as the Vietnam War era insecticidal toxin N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide is commonly known as or DEET. In this workshop, we’ll learn what works and why, and compose our own safe and effective bug repellants.\nWhat’s worse? The sun, or the toxins in the sunscreens?\nRegular exposure to the sun lets your skin adapt to defend itself against harmful rays, all the while making vitamin D. So tanning is a healthy response and those who get regular exposure to the sun lower their skin cancer risk. Burning is absolutely not healthy – it clearly increases your risk of deadly skin cancer. So what to do?\nLearn to make and take home:\n* A pack of our very own bug repelling incense\n* Custom bug spray\n* After Bite roll-on perfume\n* Our very own Sun Blessed Lotion\n* Safe Sun Protection Cream with Zinc\nWhat participants in Anarres Workshops have said:\nTracey is a fantastically knowledgeable teacher…I love learning from her and knowing more about how to take care of myself and my family. Her workshop was well structured with a nice little sample of what we made to take home, plus information on how to make up my own recipe next time.\n~ M.F. Hanlon\n
